This was Father’s Day, and it was a great day at CBC!
* We had a lot of our regular folks away, but we had lots of guests!
* The ladies of the church cooked breakfast for the men, and it was delicious! What a great way to start the day!
* We had a special guest, Joseph Canella, who provided our special music today. Joseph is a phenomenal bassonist! That’s not typically an instrument you hear played solo, but he was smokin’ awesome!
* Today we started to look at the various ways God uses to shape our lives. I’m excited about how this series will unfold over the next several weeks.
* Next week we will be celebrating the 49th anniversary of our Robin Class, our ministry to developmentally challenged adults.
* Week after next we’ll be hosting a Community Worship Service for the kick-off of the World Changers Project in Portsmouth.
* Terrace Crawford is our speaker for the week, and I’m really excited about TC being with us.
* The next two weeks are going to be busy with the ramp-up to the project.
* We’ve got about 220 volunteers rolling in to work on houses in Cradock and Truxtun.
* Yesterday was our Angel Food distribution. We processed about 15,000 pounds of food.
* This total number is down from previous months, but the cool thing is that there is now another drop site in the area, so they got the other 15,000 pounds on the truck. So in the end, the numbers are still about the same.
* I continue to be blown away by the opportunities for ministry that AngelFood provides. If you’re in a church that is looking for a way to connect with a need in your community, you need to check out AngelFood Ministries. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever worked with. Ever!
*Had a bunch of exciting meetings to talk about future ministry at CBC with lots of different folks this past week, and have a bunch more this coming week. Would appreciate your prayers!
* BTW…I finally figured out why the rich-text editor has not been working. Apparently it’s a bug in WordPress 2.8 (self-hosted apps have the bug, the WP-hosted blogs don’t). Gonna switch over to the new 2.8.1 beta that is supposed to fix that. We’ll see how that goes. I may be Tweeting for help, so stay tuned!
