Silence is golden, but too much of it turns to lead
by Rob ~ May 29th, 2008. Filed under: Uncategorized.Earlier this week I sent a tweet that I was in a crisis intervention training this week. I thought I’d follow up with a little more info, in case you aren’t following my tweets.
The conference wraps up tomorrow about noon. It’s been awesome training, developed by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation, and has focused on how to assist individuals who are in crisis. Hopefully over the weekend I can post a few of the great things we’re thought about this week.
This model of intervention teaches a simple way of working with individuals in crisis. It’s not therapy, nor is it designed to “fix” folks. It’s emotional first-aid. I wish there were more pastors and church planters taking this training, because I think it would change how we deal with people in crisis.
That’s enough for now. Stay tuned!
