Sunday Summary 05.18.08
by Rob ~ May 18th, 2008. Filed under: Sunday Summary.Had a full day today……so here goes….
- Good attendance in worship, although several of our regular folks were out of town or sick
- We’ve got a couple of our members facing serious health issues right now
- Great to have good friends Dave & Jean Bobbey visit with us. Dave is a chaplain with Civil Air Patrol, and is involved with the ministry of Cadence International, a ministry to the military community around the world.
- Love having Brenda Hayth playing piano and organ. Her gifts add so much to our worship experience!
- Launched new message series today: “How To Be a Disciple“
- Had great feedback on today’s message. Check my Resources page later in the week for the audio.
- Today was a tie-optional Sunday for me. Felt so strange not wearing a suit and tie.
- Had homemade cheesburgers for lunch. Catherine made homemade spicy french fries–they were wonderful. Her Fry-Daddy is our family’s new best friend!
- Took a brief nap after lunch, then headed back into office to prep for congregational whiteboard session this evening
- Had great attendance at the session
- I outlined a process for developing strategy for the future
- Had some new folks participating in the conversations at this gathering
- Involving more folks ensures we have opportunity to hear what God is saying thru the Body, creates ownership earlier, and broader buy-in to the overall vision.
- It was raining when we came out, so I got damp loading up the car
- Catherine made fresh Amish Friendship Bread when I got home.
- Fresh hot bread, with butterscotch chips. Um mmm good!
- Tonight was the night to divide the bread goop. Now the kitchen smells like a distillery.
- WhiteBoard is Thursday. I can’t wait! Gonna be a blast!
- My allergies are kickin’ up. It’s the legustrum hedge and boxwoods blooming. They always mess me up.
- Gonna finish reading The Tangible Kingdom tonite. Been a good read.
